A Thank You Message to Our Departing CEO
In August 2017, The World Travel & Tourism Council appointed Gloria Guevara Manzo as its new President & CEO. It would be the first time in the Council’s history that a woman and Latina would lead the organisation.
Under her leadership, WTTC’s work has focused on three key priorities:
- Security and travel facilitation, including finding innovative ways to promote seamless, secure travel such as biometric technology.
- Preparedness and response for crises, whether man-made or natural.
- Sustainable growth to ensure travel and tourism has a positive impact on people, cities and nature.
Throughout these priorities and her relentless work establishing long-term partnerships between the private and public sector to raise awareness of the global Travel & Tourism sector’s importance, she has led the organisation to a new era.
Under Gloria’s vision, WTTC has advocated sustainable growth for the industry by working with governments, international institutions, and the media. To create jobs, drive exports, and generate prosperity, relentlessly showing that Travel & Tourism is one of the world’s most influential and diverse sectors.
Over these past four years, Gloria’s work has been transformational for the industry, strengthening our Members, partners, and sponsors committed to our mission as a sector. By connecting people, cultures and communities, promoting economic growth, driving trade, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life for millions of people worldwide.
Her continuous engagement to support women, promote diversity and drive inclusion in Travel & Tourism has set the path in which the Council will continue to advocate and lead the way to achieve equality for women throughout Travel & Tourism worldwide.
More than ever, as we head towards the recovery of our sector, we are honoured and thankful for Gloria’s legacy that will undoubtedly set our vision for years to come highlighting how travel can be a force for good.
